Monday, September 15, 2014

Millcroft Managing Director, Roy Jones attended the presentation of a cheque to Step by Step Director Judith Schaechter at the C360 Mile End offices.

Costain Skanska JV Project Director Graham Sugrue, presented the £2,250 cheque to the charity, raised by the auction of subcontractor company names for the C360 site meeting rooms.

Graham adds: “I am delighted to support such a worthy local charity as part of the C360 community investment programme. Costain and Skanska are joined by our subcontractors in their commitment to helping those within our society who are less fortunate.

The C360 team at the Mile End and Eleanor Street shafts appreciates the importance of good community relations during the construction of Crossrail and through local volunteering, supporting charities and local businesses we can play a small part in sustaining good relations throughout the project.

The Crossrail legacy will improve future travel links across London and C360 offers support to small organisations like Step by Step to help plan their own future. ”

This east London charity helps over 120 children and young people throughout the year after school, during weekends and in school holidays. It offers opportunities to make friends, learn new skills, participate in sport, and develop greater independence. As well as much needed respite for carers.

Activities include Swimming, Cycling, Horse Riding, Ice-Skating, Drama, Music, Cooking, Kayaking and Creative Art.

Results include:  helping children to progress emotionally, in self-confidence and in ability, as well as promoting community understanding and inclusion. The next challenge for the charity is to find new premises in order to guarantee their future presence.
