251 Newington Causeway, London

Millcroft Scaffolding are engineering and providing access on this mixed-use scheme, one of the tallest towers in London. Once complete, the 41 storey Allies and Morrison designed building will be almost three-times the height of Nelson’s Column at 52m.

Located in the heart of Elephant & Castle, London the project was logistically challenging due to the congested layout of the site plus construction using off-site manufacture meant that there were constant deliveries of panels and manufactured goods with the three tower cranes in constant use.

Our in-house design team developed a bespoke solution to the access requirements for the project which included a full height staircase requiring 16 standards due to the imposed loads.  The staircase acted as a secondary means of escape for the construction workforce and required to be positioned a metre away from the building with nothing below the projected platform.  We overcame this by using cantilevered brackets to give access to each floor level.

Additionally the project comprised handrails to floors, crash and protection decks, cantilevers at several levels, protection fans, loading and lifting platforms and gantries.

The project is currently under construction and due for completion in December 2017
