Millcroft Appoints Head of Commercial to Support Growing Business

February 2023

Millcroft has appointed Craig Bewick as its new Head of Commercial as the business continues to expand.

With more than 15 years of experience, Craig, from London, will work with the Millcroft team on its portfolio of scaffolding projects; from reviewing contracts, analysing designs, to bidding for new projects and forecasting.

As a third-generation scaffolder, Craig worked for more than five years ‘on the tools’, before completing a BSc (Hons) in Project Management, and MSc in Commercial Management from the University of Westminster. Whilst studying, Craig continued to work full-time as a scaffolder, balancing his studies as he progressed in his career.

Craig went onto a undertake roles that included Divisional Surveyor; working at Gatwick & Heathrow Airports and learning the basics of contract administration. From there he progressed to more senior positions such as Quantity Surveyor and Senior Quantity Surveyor within other scaffolding companies. He gained experience working on a wide range of projects and landed the role of Commercial Manager with his previous employer.

Craig was recruited by Millcroft as Head of Commercial, to further strengthen its growing team and expand the portfolio of projects.

Speaking of his new appointment, Craig said: “I have followed in the footsteps of my family; my dad and my grandfather were both scaffolders. I have a passion for leadership and studied hard to prepare for management opportunities, as I feel I have a lot to offer in the industry.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Millcroft team. The high standards and performance of the company can clearly be seen in the success of its projects and on site, especially on HS2. We work with some fantastic customers who produce really high-quality work. It’s rewarding to see how the knowledge and experience of our team can collaborate with our clients, to produce innovative, highly efficient and safe solutions to achieve successful project delivery. I am proud to be part of such a passionate and forward-thinking company who always strive for the best.”

Continued Craig: “Millcroft is also a great example of how to make the scaffolding sector more attractive to our younger generation. As we suffer from a skills shortage across construction, it’s exciting to see how the company showcases what a fantastic career scaffolding can be; as well as providing that much-needed support and training opportunities for its staff. I hope this only encourages more people to join our sector, and work within an industry to be proud of.”

Billy Jones, MD at Millcroft, added: “Craig is a real asset to our team. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience, but not only that; his passion and drive are invaluable. As we are now in our 50th year, we continue to grow by working hard and recruiting the best individuals to ensure we continue to deliver those outstanding projects that people know and trust us for.”
