Located in the heart of London’s busiest shopping location, Wells House is a commercial building with ground floor retail accommodation and offices above.
The existing building has been redeveloped to create a nine-storey building, with basement excavations and remodelling to create additional space. The result is a contemporary building with office accommodation at levels two to nine, retail space at basement, ground and first floor level, and cycle facilities at basement level.
The project involved dismantling and basement works carried out by Erith.
The Solution from Millcroft
Working around the constraints and logistical challenges of a confined site in a busy city centre location, the Millcroft team designed a fully-wrapped scaffold to completely enclose the work area and provide access for the Erith team.
The scaffold design had to bridge neighbouring buildings and ensure that public access to surrounding properties could be safely maintained in a high footfall location.
Throughout the project, the design was reviewed by the in-house team and adapted as required to ensure it was aligned to the tight demolition programme.
